Empire is not a place; it is an architecture. An architecture that lives inside your body. It is the way you round your shoulders when you try to stand up for yourself. The stiffness of your spine that never quite disappears even when you rest. The apology that escapes your mouth before your request. The way you play and replay a conversation, dissecting every detail, constructing every retort you did not say but wish you did.

These are not personality flaws. Fix your mindset. Manifest under the new moon. Find your purpose (did it roll under the sofa?). The reason you struggle financially is not late-stage capitalism; it’s because you need to regulate your nervous system. Please. Spare me.

All of this advice puts the onus squarely on the individual, leaving the actual systems of harm relatively untouched. While you’re busy adding crystals and incense to your Amazon cart, The Architecture of Empire grows larger and sturdier every day.

You cannot self-care your way out of architecture; you can only build another structure.

The Cure for The Architecture of Empire is the Structure of Grace.

Grace is the thing that was there before Empire, and will be here long after Empire has crumbled. Grace is the favour we do not have to perform for, that arrives before we are ready to receive it. It is not transactional; we cannot buy it or earn it, and that is why Empire cannot touch it. It operates under completely different rules - a whole other energetic structure.

Empire demands we pay and perform to earn the right to be seen as human, but with grace, we simply are.

And when grace permeates us, when it fills our energy body, we can rest in its structure. We no longer need to prove we are a “good person”. We can stop building a case for why we need rest or care or attention or love. We can be complex, a paradox. We can be furious and kind. We can be celebrated and a disappointment. We can be the one who survived and the one who gets to thrive.

Grace is what holds this tension. So that it does not tear you apart, but hold you up.

A woman who can feel it all - not collapse into despair or bypass into fantasy - is ungovernable. She cannot be flattered or bought; she cannot be guilted or managed by those who still benefit from her compliance, those who still serve Empire. No. She sees exactly what is happening in a room; she trusts her intuition, and she acts accordingly. She says the true thing. She holds a boundary. She stops being available for disrespect and exploitation.

It is a skill, and every single one of us who commits to training takes another brick out of the wall of The Architecture of Empire.

Maybe I am not one of these women yet - but I am raising two of them, and I am obsessed with how I could do that while still figuring all this out myself.

The Condition Cure is not a cure for you - you were never the problem.

It is a cure for the conditions - The Conditions of Empire.

You can access The Condition Cure - Taster Guided Practice for free on InsightTimer. She clasped onto the small statue of Krishna and treated it as her beloved, washing it, singing to it, and adorning it. No matter how much her family scolded her, she never wavered, solid in her devotion.

When she turned 18, her family brokered the match of a lifetime for her - Bhoj Raj, the crown prince of Mewar. Although she loved her husband, Mirabai’s devotion to Krishna remained, much to her in-laws’ dismay, who had hoped she would shift her devotion to Durga. Bhoj Raj protected her until one day he was killed in battle. Tradition demanded Mirabai commit sati - throwing herself on her deceased husband’s funeral pire, but Mirabai refuses, saying, "I cannot die on the pyre of a mortal husband. My husband is immortal." She, of course, is speaking of Krishna.

Mirabai remains in Mewar, writing poetry that is sung by peasants, singing to her statue and spending time with the wandering holy men of the lower caste. Her in-laws despise her, a princess and widow who will not conform.

Mirabai is an embarrassment to the clan. She is ungovernable. They try three times to kill her.

They send her a cup full of poison, telling her it is the holy water from washing Krishna’s feet. She drinks it anyway, but she is unharmed.

They send her a basket filled with snakes, telling her they are flowers, but when she reaches inside, the snakes slither around her arms, and they do not harm her.

They send her a bed, telling her it is soft and sumptuous, but it is filled with nails. She lies on it, but she is unharmed.

Three times they try, and three times Mirabai is unharmed. Each attempt taught her something. Each poison cup showed her exactly what she would not compromise. The very things meant to break her forged her. She has built such a deep trust within and of her own body that the tools of Empire cannot harm her. She is inhabited, completely her own. She is ungovernable.

One day, Mirabai wakes and knows it is time to leave. She walks out of the city of Mewar with only the clothes on her back. She becomes a wanderer. She travels with saints and pilgrims. A highborn Rajput princess moving freely among lower-caste holy people? Singing in public? Being seen, being heard? It is a scandal. During this time, she writes radical poetry. She is not performing freedom. She is living it.

At last, after years of wandering, she arrives at the Ranchhodrai temple in Dwarka - the home of Krishna. There, she enters the temple, the doors close behind her, singing is heard, and when the doors open, Mirabai is nowhere to be seen; her vivid sari is wrapped around the statue of Krishna.

Part history, part legend, Mirabai proves that Intutive Body Intelligence is not new. It is not a wellness trend. An ancient technology we have always carried, and Empire has always tried to destroy. Mirabai chose it over a throne, over individual safety, over her own life, and Empire could not touch her.

But this was not by accident, no. She trained herself. Through years of devotional practice, poetry, song and body knowledge, she cultivated a state where she was more real to herself than anything Empire could threaten her with. That is not magic or woo-woo. That is what a trained intuition looks like in a human life.

Empire has always known that the most effective weapon against an ungovernable woman is convincing her that her own knowing cannot be trusted.

They tell us to outsource our inner knowing to tarot cards, to algorithms, to gurus, to wellness influencers, to anyone and anything external. Because if they can get you to distrust your Intuitive Body Intelligence, they have you. Not through force, but through self-abandonment.

They do this by convincing us that our many facets are “too much.” By labelling them as symptoms to be managed, we abandon the very parts of ourselves that are needed for this moment in history.

But here’s the truth:

Your grief is a frequency; it shows you what you love.
Your rage is a frequency; it shows you what you refuse to accept.
Your tenderness, your ferocity, your stillness, your fire; all frequencies that reveal what matters most to you.

The woman who is simultaneously at peace and on fire is not broken. She is not confused. She is not contradicting herself. She is alive with purpose. She is the full spectrum, the whole rainbow. She is ungovernable.

And she is dangerous to Empire. So she must be stopped. She must be regulated.

So Empire dresses itself up as a wellness guru selling “nervous system regulation”. Soft aesthetics, love-and-light, dressed in $100 polyester leggings, promising that elusive (and exclusive) zen. But what we’re really being sold is dissociation and suppression of most of the more intense parts of the spectrum. No politics here, we’re spiritual. Replace your rage with matcha and rise above it all. Calm. Manageable. Predictable. Present but not disruptive. You, as a single note.

What they call ‘too much’ is actually the fuel for your holy fire.
Your grief fuels your devotion.
Your rage fuels your boundaries.
Your passion (not how manageable you are) shows you what you’re here to protect.

Empire will call you difficult, but what you are in ungovernable.

Mirabai sang every note, and her singing drove the powerful men mad. Not because it was loud but because it was whole. Because a woman who stops believing that any part of herself is the problem becomes, by that very act, ungovernable.

How to drink poison and live.

So how do you become that? How do you move from fragmented to full spectrum? From self-doubt to self-trust?

The answer is Intuitive Body Intelligence.

Intuitive Body Intelligence is the capacity to feel everything and not be swept away by any of it. To be moved without being managed. To KNOW: deeply, cellularly, and unshakably, without needing to explain it or defend it to anyone.

It’s not a skill you’re born with or without. It’s a skill you train. And it alchemises poison into purpose.

Your body already has the technology. It has been passed down from generation to generation1

Mirabai had every opportunity to say “oh, it’s all a bit complicated, isn’t it?” and dissociate from the world, to give in to Empire. But she didn’t. Through pure devotion to something outside of herself, something bigger than this human existence, she chose her own knowing over the authority trying to manage her, and she he channeled everything they sent to break her, the grief, the persecution, the literal poison, into service, through poetry, through song, through community

She became so inhabited by her own Intuitive Body Intelligence that no external power, no royal decree, no poison, not even the threat of exile or death, could shake her loose from herself.

She drank the poison because she knew, in her body, that she was held by something no earthly Empire could touch. She drank the poison because she knew it could fuel her, as Audre Lorde says, anger (or poison in this case), used skillfully, fuels change.

The question is not whether you’ll face poison cups (because you will and probably already have). The question is: have you trained yourself to alchemise them?

What would it feel like to trust yourself that completely?

Not recklessly. Not without discernment. But with the full weight of a trained, inhabited, awake body behind every decision you make.

What would it feel like to walk into a room or go on socials and know what’s real and what isn’t? What’s honest, and what’s being sold to you?

What would it feel like to let your grief fuel your devotion? To let your rage fuel your boundaries? To let your full spectrum of feeling show you exactly what you're here to protect?

What would it feel like to be ungovernable?

This is what I’m teaching. Live. One hour. For Free.

The practices based on the body technology Mirabai used.
The science behind why it works.
The pathway from self-doubt to self-trust.

If you’re ready to stop being told you’re “too much” and to start being full spectrum.
If you’re ready to train your Intuitive Body Intelligence the way Mirabai trained hers.
If you’re ready to let your passion, not your manageability, guide you
Then I’ll see you there.

Ungovernable: Your Body Is Not an Algorithm
Free Webniar
7 pm GMT (Lisbon)Tuesday 3rd March 2026 / 6 am AEDT (Melbourne) Wednesday 4th March 2026

Register Here

The world is filling with poison cups dressed as offerings. ancient times. Partly, it was practical: the sun rises in the East, so that side of the world got labelled “East.” But mostly, it was about culture. Different empires, different traditions, different labels.

Fast forward to the Middle Ages: the “West” was mostly Christian and Latin-speaking. The “East” included the Byzantine Empire and Islamic caliphates. And then, there were the Crusades: a series of religious and military campaigns where European Christians tried to take back the Holy Land from Muslim control. These wars created the conditions for a weird mix of fascination and hostility toward the “East”.

In the 1500s, during the Age of Discovery, European powers like Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, France, and Britain began to expand their own empires. As they encountered cultures in India, Sri Lanka, Japan, and China, the phrase “East meets West” gained in popularity.

With all this expansion, Europe declared itself the centre of the “civilised world,” while the East was painted as backward, underdeveloped, and in desperate need of saving. This mindset led to Western political, economic, and cultural domination. The East became a playground for extraction, exploitation, missionary work, and exotic spectacle.

Some of the best examples of what these Western explorers thought about Indigionus cultures exist in the diaries and letters of Christopher Columbus. He described them as having “good intellect” and “strong build”, and that they were so naive and generous that it would be so easy to make them servants and convert them to Christianity. He even captured some of them, taught them English and indoctrinated them into believing that he and his coloniser mates were the “celestial race”.

Oriental Studies: Empire Gets Academic

By the 1700s, Europe’s fascination with the East morphed into an academic field titled Oriental Studies. Scholars documented Eastern languages, religions, and histories. Of course, they were preserving some ancient texts, but their main goal? To better understand the East so that colonisers could convert people to Christianity. Documentation of indigenous knowledge was also about exploitation and commodification. Traditional plants and medicines were recorded and taken back to the West to be trademarked, reproduced on a mass scale and sold with no compensation or credit given to the holders of the knowledge.

Through a Eurocentric lens, cultures from Egypt to China were framed as static, declining, and always inferior in intellect and infrastructure to the “modern” West, which knew exactly “what to do” with the riches of the East.

Edward Said and Orientalism

For much of the 18th and 19th centuries, the East influenced everything from fashion (think Indian chintz fabrics, Japanese kimonos, and Middle Eastern motifs) to art, liturature and theatre. And while some of it was beautiful, a lot of the time it often reflected Western fantasies more than authentic Eastern experiences and perpetuated misrepresentation and harmful stereotypes (I mean, have you seen Gilbert and Sullivan’s: The Mikado?)

In 1978, Edward Said, a Palestinian-American scholar, coined the term Orientalism in his book of the same name.

He proposed that the West’s fascination with the East wasn’t innocent academic curiosity or wide-eyed admiration. Instead, they were a power play, a construction of a narrative justified by colonial rule and cultural dominance.

Said leaned on French philosopher Michel Foucault, who wrote that knowledge and power are inseparable.

Knowledge is never neutral. Knowledge is produced by those who have power. It shapes what we accept as “truth” and disciplines how we think and act.

Western scholars and artists didn’t just document the East; they created it. The East became an object of study, control, and governance. Experts in universities, hospitals, and governments produced and legitimised “truths” that justified centuries of colonial harm.

Although the cultures of the East were the stewards of their own unique ancient teachings, belief systems and art forms, the West documented them and turned them into “knowledge”. The West institutionalised and legitimised the East, always looking for a way to understand it and make it fit its narrow Western view.

So, What’s Wrong with “East Meets West”?

Although it sounds like a fair cultural exchange, it is anything but.

Scroll through TikTok and every second self-proclaimed healer is peddling this “East meets West” ideology, totally clueless about its colonial baggage.

Here’s why that’s a problem:

Inequality: The West gets to be all “science”: quantum physics, neurology, anatomy. The East? It’s the “woo-woo” energy, touchy-feely stuff. Setting up a hierarchy where Western knowledge is “real”, and Eastern wisdom is “soft”, intangible and less credible.

Framing the West as the Default: When I was writing the Intuitive Body Intelligence textbook, I tried to fit Ayurvedic energetic anatomy into Western anatomy and physiology. But it didn’t fit. After nearly 20 years as a chiropractor, I was still trying to force Eastern wisdom into a Western box. And it just felt off. Because each system has its own unique language and logic, and trying to “make it fit” flattens the wisdom, kills its magic, and loses the nuance and paradox that make it powerful in the first place.

Pick’n’Mix Spirituality: Don’t like one part of Buddhism? No worries, you can just grab a bit of Ayurveda instead! When we flatten “the East” into one big, bland mash-up, it tricks us into thinking we can swap ideas, beliefs, and remedies like they’re all interchangeable dishes at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

But there is a reason traditions stick with one school of thought.

Depth. Paradox. Mystery.

Long lineages of sitting with a single practice, fully exploring its layers, its challenges, its power.

Give your medicine the generic title of “Eastern,” and you lose all that. Your work becomes shallow, surface-level, and (let’s be honest) a little lazy.

No Accountability, No Integrity: If “the East” is just a made-up, catch-all idea, then who’s holding you accountable? “The East” has no elders. No specific land. No lineage. Just a vast, anonymous sea where anything goes.

No accountability means it is way too easy to cherry-pick whatever suits you, with zero respect or responsibility. Acting like cultural ideas and spiritual practices are interchangeable commodities. But they’re not.

All of these things cheapen deep traditions and turn sacred knowledge into a buffet for Western consumption. Although the term “East meets West” sounds like a fair cultural exchange, a meeting of theories and beliefs, it is hardly that.

The East meets West mindset turns sacred traditions into commodities. Practices get stripped of their context, repackaged for Western consumption, and divorced from their original meaning and power. What started as deep, embodied wisdom becomes a diluted product on the spiritual supermarket shelf.

Why This Matters Now

The phrase “East meets West” isn’t just annoying, it’s actively harmful. Empire loves the binary. It keeps colonial power dynamics alive in modern healing and spirituality, and it erases the voices and sovereignty of Eastern traditions and flattens complex cultures into stereotypes.

Intuitive Body Intelligence as the Antidote: Decolonise, Embody, and Respect

Put simply, Intuitive Body Intelligence is not East meets West because it rejects the inherent colonial, binary framing behind the phrase.

Intuitive Body Intelligence is:

An Honouring of Original Wisdom
My lineage is South Asian, specifically Sri Lankan and Tamil. This means that my teachings draw on these lineages specifically. You will not see me using the blanket Eastern title, because I name the source of the original wisdom by name. I will not be cherry picking ideas and sprinkling in a little Chinese Acupuncture or Buddhism, not because they are not excellent in their own right, but because it is not my medicine. It is ok to know that some medicine is just not meant for you.

An Honouring Depth
Because we stick to one specific tradition and lineage, there is depth and nuance to this work. We sit and explore the uncomfortable and embrace space and mystery.

A Centring of Agency and Context
We believe that healing is political and that means we must address the root systems like colonialism, racism, capitalism, patriarchy, ablism and classism, that make us sick. This is about radical responsibility and accountability. So our words matter. If we are to speak a new world into being, we must be aware of what we are saying and how. We reject the commodification, dilution, flattening and appropriation of traditional wisdom for easy consumption.

An Honouring of Complexity
Cultures and schools of thought are diverse, dynamic, and deeply interconnected; they are not fixed boxes to be compared or merged. Although rooted in Chiropractic Theory and Quantum Physics, Intutive Body Intelligence honours the complex history of these fields.
Healing is also complex. It is messy, paradoxical, and full of nuance. Each person is a case study of one, and with IBI we allow the Intutive Intelligence of the body to lead, both that of the client and the practitioner. We prioritise circles over certainty.

A Belief that the Body is the First Site of Resistance and Truth
Healing through IBI is inseparable from political and social consciousness. It recognises that restoring the body means also healing the legacies of colonialism, systemic racism, and environmental destruction that shape our health and wellbeing. Our bodies are the first place we experience resistance to a world on fire. It promotes a holistic, intersectional understanding of health and identity, integrating mind, body, spirit, and community.

A Deep Awareness and Active Resistance
Of the systemic conditions inherited from Empire that shape how we experience our bodies, minds, and spirits.

We will not be well adjusted to a sick system

Time to Drop the Colonial Baggage and Step Up

“East meets West” sounds nice and cozy, but it’s really a colonial relic dressed up in new-age clothes. Since IBI is an emerging modality, at present, 1:1 in person sessions are only available in The Algarve, Portugal.

In August 2026 the inaugural intake of IBI Level 1 training will begin. Body workers and intuitive practitioners from all areas are invited to apply for this exciting and groundbreaking training which includes a 5 day in person retreat in The Algarve, Portugal in November 2026.

What are the sessions like for a client?

As a client, you have the option of in person sessions or online sessions. They look and sound different, but the intent and feeling is the same.

We go through:

WHAT is the energetic and metaphysical reason for the physical symptoms the body is expressing?

HOW is this happening FOR you as a part of your soul and ego growth?

WHERE can we build better systems and strategies to support you and those around you?

During an in-person session, the practitioner applies gentle touch to the spine and during an online session, the practitioner intuits the areas of tension and stagnation in the client’s physical and energetic body.

You may be guided through breath work, visualisations, tapping or into a meditative (theta brainwave) state. There will be homework too in the form of bespoke guided practices.

Book your IBI session with Leandra

What would the training look like?

There are 3 parts and 200 hours of study in the training and all of them are essential.

Part 1: The Science
August - October
Science meets mysticism as we explore the body, it’s anatomy and physiology, through a whole new lens of patterns and interaction. We cover things like the anatomy of breath, the anatomy of consciousness, what intuition is, and where it lives in the body. Drawing from my lineage as a South Asian woman, we will explore Ayurvedic teachings on energetic anatomy and how they relate to what quantum physics and neuroscience says. Based on Mary Magdalene’s gospel, we will explore what the ego’s powers are. This part is all online.

Part 2: The Art
5 days in Early November
This is where it gets super fun and we will meet in person to put all the theory into practice. The week will be spent giving and receiving of the technique. I will guide you in facilitating safe, regulated and spontaneous shifts. Think precise and refined - an embodiment and flow of the knowledge you gained in part 1.

Part 3: The Philosophy
December - January
This is the part that sets IBI apart from all other modalities. It is the part I am most proud of and the most excited to facilitate. And the part I talk most about on social media and in my writings.

The last 2 months are more fluid, in a sense it is a clinic style format, where you will go out and start practicing the technique and we will meet and discuss cases. You will be required to submit assignments and case studies to ensure your readiness to practice.

But it’s more than that. What we are doing with this modality is building a new healthcare infrastructure. One that is built on collective liberation, a new system that as Simone Grace Seol describes it: “generates wealth, creates dignified work and serves liberation.”

We can all see that the way we do health is crumbling, but what will we build in its place?

I want to put money in the hands of people who actually care, I want to draw together a bunch of thought leaders; educated, privileged, gifted and devoted, so that together we can create something new in the cracks of the old crumbling empire.

That is really what part 3 is about. You, going out into the world and using your gifts, with a safe space to come back to. A space with the support of others like you to help build the infrastructure needed to change the current paradigm, because god knows, we cannot do it alone.

Ok so who is this training for?

This is for you if:

You are already a practitioner with experience working with the body and clients (think yoga instructors, chiropractors, somatic therapists, massage therapists, reiki practitioners, physiotherapists, personal trainers, pilates instructors, etc)

You have been practicing long enough to know the limitations of the way we currently “do” health and wellness

You find it easier to imagine the end of the world than dream of a world without capitalism, racism, sexism (all the -isms)

You are excited to have your beliefs challenged and commit to self actualisation as part of your service

Bonus points if you are:

A woman

Of the global majority (that means you don’t identify as white European)

So if I studied this, what would change for me, my practice and my clients?

That is a great question and really, it depends on your intention and attention.

The technique isn’t that unique, there are quite a few modalities out there that will teach you energetic and light-touch body work. But you are here because you desire real change. The kind that destroys empires and builds new worlds. That is what this training delivers.

Perhaps you have been looking at a different model of practicing, one that doesn’t model capitalist hoarding, but also isn’t a charity. This training will give you the tools to see your work in a new way, as well as the support and council to imagine something totally new.

Maybe you want your clients to be more active in their healing. This model will give you new frame works and structure around guiding your clients to see the deeper meaning of their symptoms, allowing them to zoom out and see the bigger picture of their lives.

Or maybe you cannot put your finger on why life and your practice feels so lacklustre, you’ve done everything “right” and still…something is calling you to change it up. This training will completely dissolve the idea of business as usual.

If you let it, this work will change you and that will ripple out into the world.

<picture></picture>

<g></g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

You mentioned Mary Magdalene, is this a religion? My mother converted from Catholicism to Church of England when she got married. This is all to say I was raised in the Anglican church, went to a Christian high school and so am not a stranger to organised religion.

I abhorred Religious Education Classes (and Church), the only thing that remotely peaked my interest was Mary Magdalene - she sounded fun. It helped that Dan Brown released his book The DaVinci Code towards the end of my schooling…but still, the bible, not my jam.

It wasn’t until my friend Ricci, suggested I read Mary Magdalene revealed by Meggan Watterson in 2019 that things changed. That book healed every wound I had with religion. I now see the bible like I see The DaVinci Code - sure it’s a bestseller, but the authors took a few artistic liberties.

What’s fascinating about Mary’s Gospel though, is that it was left out of the bible. Only 3 copies exist and all of them have the same pages torn out. It’s pretty salacious stuff.

Mary’s Gospel tells the story of what The Lord told her about being a human. She outlines 7 powers of the ego that the soul must interact with and overcome. What I love about that is that the ego is not painted as evil, rather it is a playful adversary, like how kittens play with each other so they can learn how to survive as grown up cats.

The simplicity of the instructions on “how to be a human”, added to the fact that Mary was a woman of colour, a healer, from a lineage of healers (just like me) resonated so deeply, that I knew I had to use it as the basis of my healing modality.

An ancient feminine voice of the collective soul to break through the modern system steeped in masculinity and hyper individualism.

Who’s the woman on the logo?

My grandmother, Grace. She was an Ayurvedic healer who became a nurse because it was more ‘reputable’ and mainstream. She died when my mum was little so I never met her but I feel like she has always been with me.

My mum was never drawn to the healing arts, but she has gifted me the activist gene, without it, I would have been content to live a quiet life as a Chiropractor in Country Victoria (Australia).

Did I answer all your questions?
